Essential oils are the volatile components present in most spices, herbs and other plant produces.
They provide the characteristic aroma of the respective produces/plant parts. Essential oils are normally extracted by steam distillation.

Have you known that producing essential oils isn't cheap due taking incredible amount of plants to produce?

It is depending of the type of plant/essential oil, but as an example we have to use 300 kgs of lavender flowers to get just one kilogramm of lavender oil
or 500 kgs of peppermint leaves are used for one kilogramm peppermint essential oil.

Most expensive to produce is rose essential oil - 8000 kgs bulgarian rose to produce a kilogramm of essential oil.
